See the currently most famous magic artist of the world. Billions of viewers saw him in several TV specials live on TV. In summer of 2011 he was invited by Luis de Matos to his elite club.

The EMC (Essential Magic Conference) is an annual meeting on internet TV for important and famous magicians. Magicians that Luis de Matos considers to be important and famous, to be exactly. Most often the participants are the same. Last time, 33 magicians sit there in front of the cameras, watched each other enchanting and talked a lot. Some of them just talked. One of them even showed a film of his performance. It was kind of film in which the actors are also sitting in the cinema and also watched a film. That’s cinema at its best. Applause, applause!

Liu Chien has also been invited there and showed his ACAAN routine. He performed it without hands and locked-up in a delimited area. You could nearly hear the jaws of 32 magicians drop. Whilst billions of viewers hailed in front of their TVs, the best super-magicians called this routine on the EMC show ‘middling’.

Well, I really like it, therefore I created this cartoon: Liu Chien on the EMC with his ACAAN routine.

This cartoon has been published in the trade magazine Magische Welt 4/2011 in fullpage, so that you can cut it out. Furthermore, you will find a very interesting interview with him – and much more.

Dani Lary

The Lord of darkness

Well, any explanation is redundant. Everyone who does not know this magician really missed out on something. Dani Lary from France is one of the most successful illusionists throughout Europe. His international popularity is based on the TV show: ‚Le plus grande Cabaret du Monde’ which is broadcasted world-wide by TV5. Some Celebrities and the host Patrick Sebastien are sitting in a dinner-theatre at a table and chat. Each guest brings one vaudeville artist. This show is one of the most popular Saturday night primetime shows, similar to the German ‘Wetten, dass…’.

Dani Lary performs the final turn – usually an opulent illusion. Dany Lary has a soft spot on gritty comedy with tongue-in-cheek. He is always accompanied by his house elf Eric who helps him with his props and typically fools around.

I have depicted Dani Lary with his house elf Eric in this cartoon. The grandmaster wears classic tails, of course – in his case in the French national colours. Since it is a known fact that grand-illusionists do not bother about card tricks, he spears the ace of hearts with his blivet. The old castle is an allusion to his full-length illusion-show: ‘Chateau’.

This cartoon is part of the serial “Theatre at the headquarter”, I call it the
Admirals Derby:

If we trust in statements from sideline guests, the first board meeting of the Magic Circle Germany inquired into the whereabouts of the presidents throne. Up to now, nobody knew if it really existed.

Thus the president and his vice went to search for the holy Grail in the dead of the night.

Hieing back the Circles admiralty got caught in a radar trap, which brought us this cartoon.
As we can see on the radar picture bat Magica was with them and assured the sanctuaries of the “S”-presidents: Schroeders rabbit, Schreibers half saw and Sommers canes…
The throne is under way to the new Presidential Palace. Its construction will be covered in detail in one of my next cartoons. Please visit us again…

* Schroeder, Schreiber and Sommer have been presidents of the Magic Circle. Magica is the trophy of the German Magic Championship. She is supposed to represent an angel, but looks like a bat.

According to the record of the boardmeeting of the Magic Circle Germany in April 2008 the old club emblem was supposed to be revised. I have reconsidered for a long time, why I resolved upon that.

Furthermore, I asked myself where it lingers about.

Well, I have learnt bats do not eat that quickly. See bat Magica, the Circles mascot eating.

Concerning the serial: as implied in the title, you will find news from the headquarter. The headquarter in these cartoons is constantly alternating. The boardmembers of the Magic Circle Germany keep us on the go, if we want to be up to date with their reigning activities.

The ultimate centre of power of German magicarts, so to speak. I came off bugging all these locations and thus could take snapshots at the right moments. For this purpose there is a crystal ball in the magic cabinets of all directors which allow me to see in their chambers. Here you will find everything, that is usually in hiding. The Great Giant

I call this comic book ‚The Great Giant’

This satirical comic book caricatures the qualifying competition for the German Championship of Magic in 2010

The leading actor – ‚The Great Giant-, a star director of world fame, in the role is noted for: the magic interpretation of the opera swan lake. He enchants in ballet slippers en pointe, in tutu skirt and tails, of course.

Please pay attention to the passion for detail in creating the hat rack. The absolute highlight is the Quick Change tutu, which appears at the flick of a switch. This is the jewel in the crown of high tech costumes.

The Great Giant presents his swan lake as opening sequence of the above mentioned event.

This international decorated show act of the ‚The Great Giant’ is from a magic technique point of view the absolute high point, quasi high end magic par excellence. The eagerly waiting conference audience especially arrived early to see this world act. What it looks like or how it ends can only be seen in the comic book. The world premiere is in Saarbruecken at the qualifying of the German Championship of Magic.

This glossy magazine is published in a limited edition at the qualifying of the German Championship of Magic competing for the golden bat. It is the first comic book issued by Lex Schoppi Cartoons.
